The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Distinguished Leadership Award

Our very own Karen Goldsworth was awarded The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Distinguished Leadership Award. They recognize leaders who have adopted the heart of community trusteeship.

The following individuals will be recognized at the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute Honors event on May 22, 2014

 

  • A. Arthur Davis Distinguished Community Leadership Award: Lena Avila Robison, Latinos Unidos of Iowa
  • Community Vision Award – Developing: Randy Kunert, Iowa State Patrol
  • Community Vision Award – Connecting: Karen Goldsworth, Strauss Security Solutions 
  • Community Vision Award – Inspiring: Anjela Shutts, Whitfield & Eddy, P.L.C.
  • Community Vision Award – Challenging: Neal Westin, Nyemaster Goode, P.C.
  • Alumni Volunteer Award – Mary Mendenhall-Core, Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation 

Join GDMLI in recognizing these leaders and the Class of 2014 Community Leadership Program graduates at the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute Honors event taking place on May 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Temple for Performing Arts.

 Community Vision Awards: Recognize four GDMLI Alumni who have each adopted the heart of our vision in one of four areas:

  • Developing: Facilitates learning opportunities for the development and preparation of leaders to serve their communities.
  • Connecting: Connects leaders across the Greater Des Moines Community.
  • Inspiring: Inspires leaders to be good community stewards.
  • Challenging: Challenges leaders to take action in the community.

A. Arthur Davis Community Leadership Award recognizes a community leader who exemplifies the qualities of GDMLI founder, A. Arthur Davis, including:

  •  Demonstrating a positive regard for the dignity and worth of other.
  • Acting as an agent for change and taking the lead when appropriate.
  •  Displaying an ability to positively influence people, activities and factors.
  •  Demonstrating leadership as well as membership in community, state, national, or International organizations.
  • Exhibiting commitment to career progression and is a leader in his/her chosen field.
